There are challenges.
For instance, there are constraints in finances: it takes a lot of money to invest in the hotel industry so it’s a preserve of the elite, very wealthy individuals.
The solution is to fractionalize the hotel industry. Instead of investing or owning a whole hotel you can invest in a room, or even a fraction of a room for any size of investment, starting from as little as $150.
Also management, maintenance and marketing is also a challenge for many people.
That’s where Pieme comes in: it’s a team of professionals that have been in the industry running, managing the hotel business for quite some time, with a combined experience of more than 20 years.
In assembling the team, Josh looked for people who are passionate in different areas, but who also had similar problems to address. It’s primarily people who have experience in the hotel industry, previous hotel managers. People in finance. Lead developer who has had interest in blockchain. Essentially, it was important that they have passion for what they do, and that they believe in the project.
Pieme’s goal is to become a leader in the African market. This is looking to be within 4 or 5 of the East African countries in the next couple years, and to have 3 to 5 residences in each country that should accommodate about 150 to 200 different hotel rooms.
Blocksquare will be instrumental in this by offering a built out infrastructure with a white label platform that will be delivered if the campaign is successful.

Tokenization of real world assets is still a somewhat foreign concept in Africa. Do you think this will have some negative effect on PIEME, if so how do you tend to solve this.
I am most excited about PIEME in Uganda, I can’t wait for it to spread it’s tentacles to other African countries. PIEME in Africa will revolutionize the real estate market by opening up the tourism and hospitality sector to development.
Quite a number of challenges, however the same challenges present alot of opportunities, in Uganda forexample there are 10 National Parks and 11 game reserves with less than 5000 lodges around them, tourists are more than the available rooms, so many end in Airbnbs and accommodation fees are crazy high, looking at this, at Pieme we are looking to capitalize on this available market to make the best for our investors.
